Antimicrobial Modes of Action

Several studies support the antimicrobial efficacy of IBAL compounds ION-ZC1, ION-ZCM1, and Ion Gel ZCM-25®. Similar metal ions and details of the compounds determine several modes of action that are increased and decreased based on each therapeutic use's administration method and dosing.

Anaerobic cells experience cytosolic metal intoxication from the overload of natural metal cations in IBAL, causing necrotic and or apoptotic (programmed) cell death. This method of cell death triggers several immune responses in biological systems. The aerobic cells' non-toxic essential metal (nutrients) uptake during cellular respiration and apoptotic cell death for the anaerobic cells creates an environment that prevents the adverse cascading events toward disease. Studies on IBAL formulations described in this invention have supported the preventative claims.

2020 - Ion Gel ZCM-25® bacterial reduction of 99.9999+% of the population of Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) was determined after 30 seconds.

2020 - Ion Gel ZCM-25® fungal reduction of 99.95+% of the population of Aspergillus Brasiliensis was determined after 30 seconds.

2020 - Ion Gel ZCM-25® viral elimination rate of 99.9999+% of SARS-CoV-2 viral particles after 10 minutes with extremely low cellular toxicity.

2019 - Ion Gel ZCM-25® Antimicrobial 100% kill rate in 30 seconds on these human pathogens - Aerobic Mesophilic, Fungi, Yeasts, Staphylococcus Aureus, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.

2018 - ION-ZCM1 In Vitro human cell-based cytotoxicity study - established a safety profile for topical use at 25% concentration.

2018 - ION-ZC1 In Vitro Antimicrobial Study on Biofilm - 24 hours at which a prominent decrease of 50% (average) of biofilm mass was observed over 36 isolates.

2017 - ION-ZC1 In Vitro Antimicrobial Study on MRSA dosing 0.212 – 0.85% (v/v) - higher kill rates than Vancomycin with less toxicity.

2017 - ION-ZC1 In Vitro Antimicrobial Study On 12 Hospital Acquired Pathogens Gram-Negative and Gram-Positive Bacteria and Fungus - 100 % kill rates.
